5. Glaucoma
Another vision condition that is related to age is glaucoma. This is caused by extra pressure within the eye. This pressure causes optic nerve damage. Just like cataracts, glaucoma is typically slow to develop. Many people who suffer from glaucoma do not even realize it because the loss of vision occurs over decades.
There is really no way to suspect glaucoma except with regular visits to the eye doctor. Once a person has been diagnosed with glaucoma, laser treatment, prescription medications, and surgery often will help. It is important to make sure that you are getting your eyes examined at least once each year.
It is also important to make sure that you visit your eye doctor if you ever notice that your vision is not as clear as it should be or if you have any other issues with your eyes.
