4. Cataracts
Another problem that a person may experience is cataracts. Cataracts are a common problem among aging adults. In fact, about 50 percent of Americans have developed cataracts by the time they are 75 years old. Cataracts occur when the lens located in the front area of the eye becomes blurry.
The cataracts then block light that is attempting to reach the retina. Cataracts typically will take some time to develop and will not cause any type of pain. Most people do not have any other symptoms with the development of cataracts. Some cataracts will remain small and will not cause any problems.
The ones that grow and start to interfere with your vision can typically be treated with minor surgery in order to remove the lens that has been damaged and then replaced with a plastic one. This surgery is often very successful.
