6. Hormones Play a Role
What many people don’t realize is that hormones can play a big role in the development of hypotension. This is particularly likely to be at the cause if you are pregnant – and changes in blood pressure are common during this time.
This is partly due to an increased production of progesterone, which alters blood pressure and leads to hypotension. However, you might also find that at other points during pregnancy blood pressure can go up. This is caused by a range of factors – such as the body producing more blood to support the new life that you are carrying!
