3. Coughing
When you cough, you use your throat to expel mucus. It’s common for the throat to hurt or burn after long periods of coughing. Coughing is common with a sinus infection, flu, or cold. Coughing that lasts a long time and is severe can result in a worse sore throat. In some cases, the cough is the cause of the sore throat, and in others, it’s just a symptom that accompanies it.
There are a lot of ways to treat a burning throat and a cough, including medications. You can sip hot tea or milk, swallow honey, or suck on hard hand and throat lozenges. The more you swallow, the more the germs and inflammation are washed away, and the fast the throat can heal.
While a sore throat is usually nothing to be serious, if it occurs with a severe cough, it could be caused by an infection or virus and may require medical attention and prescription medications for treatment.
