5. A fever
In many cases of diverticulitis, patients develop a high fever, which could reach 100 degrees F or more. Diverticulitis is often the result of an infection in the diverticula, or the small pouches that develop in the lining of the bowels.
When you develop any type of infection, the body tries to fight it off by raising its temperature.
Doing so makes the body less habitable for the infection, thus driving it out. Should you develop a high fever, especially if you are experiencing any other symptoms on this list, it’s important to contact a doctor.
