5. Essential Oils
You may already use essential oils to freshen the fragrance of your home or for a relaxing bath, but you may not realize that these oils can have a positive effect on your gastritis. One study showed that, combined with dietary changes, certain essential oils can inhibit the growth of Helicobacter pylori bacteria and can help ease the symptoms of gastritis.
Lemongrass and lemon verbena was found to have the strongest effect. Lemongrass was demonstrated to fight infection and the growth of fungi. It is even effective against drug-resistant bacteria. In addition, lemongrass is an antioxidant and can eliminate free radicals that cause disease.
Cinnamon bark essential oil has strong antimicrobial effects as well as relaxing properties that can ease the stomach. It is not recommended to take the oils orally, but rubbing them on the skin or inhaling them through distillation are effective ways of benefiting from essential oils.
