Their doctor may recommend a vitamin with magnesium. If there isn’t enough magnesium in the body, their potassium and calcium levels will drop. The body needs these because it can prevent bone injuries. In fact, the majority of magnesium is stored in the bones. The rest goes to the blood.
Older adults have to be careful when they have a magnesium deficiency because they can easily break their bones. For instance, if they have a fall, it may cause permanent damage. The person may not be able to walk on their own anymore. The person may need to use a walker, wheelchair, or cane. Their doctor will tell him or her how magnesium can absorb in the body better.
