5. Salt Water
Saltwater has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling, redness, and pain in the throat. It can also help wash away any bacteria and infection that may be causing the throat to burn or be sore. In fact, it’s one of the fastest ways to reduce pain and discomfort in the throat.
Some people may experience a slight burning sensation when the saltwater first hits the throat, but it quickly goes away and numbs the throat. Just mix a couple of tablespoons of salt in a cup of water. Allow the salt to dissolve and then gargle it in the back of the throat.
Spit it out when finished. You can do this up to three times a day or until the sore throat subsides. Most people do not like the taste of saltwater, and it’s not a good idea to swallow large amounts of it on purpose.
