4. Motorcycle vs. Car accident
Bicyclists can also collide with motor vehicles but it is more common for motorcycles to do so. Motorcycle accidents can be much more serious than bike accidents simply because of the higher speeds and the heavier weights of the vehicles involved.
When you are riding a motorcycle, even if you wear a helmet, you are vulnerable to spiral fractures. Even with daytime running lamps and other safety equipment, drivers in other cars simply might not see you. You are passing a car but you are in their blind spot. They pull into your lane and you swerve reflexively to avoid the collision. By doing so, you cause your bike to lose control and your arm or leg can get trapped under the bike and cause a torsion fracture.
These types of accidents also occur in motocross or four-wheeler riding because your extremities are simply not protected.
