6. Itching
The skin is the body’s largest organ, and it’s sensitive to changes in the bacterial balance of the body. The introduction of bacterial urethritis may signal changes in this bacterial balance, and the patient may start to itch. In some cases, the itching sensation occurs all over the body, while other patients may notice that the itching occurs in a localized area around the groin.
Once again, this is a common symptom of STIs, and many people may start to think that they have contracted a sexually transmitted infection that causes itching symptoms, such as herpes. The intensity of itching symptoms will depend on the extent of the bacterial infection, ranging from mild to intense.
Affected individuals may use a warm compress applied to the affected area to reduce itching symptoms and provide some relief. However, these symptoms typically decline rapidly after starting a course of antibiotics administered by your doctor.
