Anaplasmosis is a disease that is caused by a tick bite. The bacteria get into the skin and make a person sick. Ticks can come from different animals, such as dogs and cattle. Animals can get anaplasmosis as well. Cats don’t get it as much as dogs and cattle. There is a cure for anaplasmosis, such as Doxycycline. This should be taken as directed. When a human gets anaplasmosis, there are a few symptoms to check for.

If you suspect you have been in contact with a tick, go to your doctor immediately. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Once you get treatment for it, you can take steps to not let it happen again, such as wearing protective clothing at all times, especially if you’re around a lot of animals. Animals that have to go outside are prone to getting ticks.

Here are eight symptoms of anaplasmosis to look out for.

1. Severe headache is a symptom of anaplasmosis.

In order to get relief from a severe headache is to take Tylenol. It is recommended to just take what is needed. The reason you’re having a severe headache is because of having anaplasmosis. Place a towel over your forehead and put ice cubes on the towel. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Repeat this a few times a day. The tick that bit you is having an effect on you that is making you have a headache.

It is a good idea to rest until the headache goes away. Once it goes away, you’ll need to go to the doctor who will diagnose anaplasmosis. The doctor will prescribe medication for you to take. You’ll need to take the medicine as directed by the doctor. Even if your headache goes away, continue taking the medicine. If you stop too soon, the headache can come back.

2. Muscle aches are another symptom of anaplasmosis.

The muscles are aching because the tick has gotten into the bloodstream. A temporary solution is to take over-the-counter pain medication and rubbing topical analgesic cream on the site that is aching. The muscle ache may be minor, so you can continue doing your normal daily tasks. If the muscle ache lasts too long, it may be a good idea to seek medical attention. Muscle aches shouldn’t last, but a few days, if you are a healthy person.

The doctor will want to know if you have been around any animals. A tick can get on you when you walk and others are walking their dogs. When you were bit, you might have thought it was a mosquito bite. Mosquito bites don’t make you sick unless your immune system is weak. In the future, you may want to stay away from anyone with animals.

3. Loss of appetite is a known symptom of anaplasmosis.

The tick bite will make you sick and cause you do not want to eat. The sight of food will make you nauseous. Even if you try to eat food, you will vomit. This is when you’ll need to either go to the emergency room or make an appointment with your primary care physician. Some of the questions the doctor may ask you, you may not have the answer to.

The only way the doctor can for sure know what is wrong with you is by conducting a blood test. The blood test will tell the doctor what illness you have. If you happen to go to the emergency room, the physician may want to stay in the hospital for a few days to keep an eye on you.

Once you are released, you will be given a prescription medication to help clear anaplasmosis.

4. Fever is common with anaplasmosis.

Since you have a weak immune system, the tick bite caused the fever. Even if you take over-the-counter medicines, the fever may or may not go away on its own. While you’re waiting to see the doctor, place ice, cold towel over your head for 15 to 20 minutes. Place a fan near you while you’re lying down to allow the cold air get on you. After a few hours, the fever should go down. During this time, go to your doctor, so that he or she can diagnose your condition and give you a prescription for medicine.

Without going to the doctor, the fever won’t go away and the symptom could get worse and could lead to death. A fever shouldn’t last, but a few days. It may cost you to see a physician, but you are saving your life at the same time.

5. Bleeding problems can occur when you wait too late to receive treatment for anaplasmosis.

The bleeding may occur on the inside and out. You may be bleeding on the inside without knowing. If you happen to go to your doctor and take imaging tests, the doctor will be able to tell if you’re bleeding on the inside. You will have to go to the hospital if the doctor cannot do anything for you in the office.

At the hospital, they may be able to stop the bleeding. The bleeding can occur on the outside as well. For instance, when you use the toilet, you may notice that blood comes out as well.

The blood may or may not be heavy. Either way, this should make you want to seek medical attention right away because there is obviously something wrong in your body if you are bleeding when using the bathroom.

6. Organs will fail when you have anaplasmosis.

When you wait too long to seek treatment, your organs will shut down and could cause death. If you are having mild symptoms and they last longer than a few days, you will need to go to your doctor as soon as possible. If you wait too long, your organs will become affected. Hospitalization is the only thing that can help you in this situation.

The tick bite has spread throughout your body and causing your organs to fail. You will have to stay in the hospital for a long time to get your organs back to normal. A lot of the time, the organs don’t work the same way since anaplasmosis has gotten to its advanced stage.

For instance, if your kidneys fail, you may either need a kidney transplant or be on dialysis. By getting treatment early, you’ll avoid additional health problems.

7. Respiratory failure is a known symptom of anaplasmosis.

This happens at the advanced stage of anaplasmosis. The blood doesn’t have enough oxygen, but too much carbon dioxide. You’ll have a difficult time breathing. Your lungs need oxygen for you to breathe. Death can occur because you’re unable to breathe. If you’re able to get to the hospital quick enough, you will be given oxygen. You’ll have to use the oxygen until your blood is able to get enough oxygen.

Since you have respiratory failure, you may have to use an oxygen tank for the rest of your life. Without any oxygen, you could possibly die. At the hospital, they will also notice that you have anaplasmosis. They’ll have to treat both conditions. Your breathing may go back to normal once the anaplasmosis goes away.

That’s why it’s important to go to the doctor as soon as you notice you can’t breathe.

8. Death is a known symptom of anaplasmosis.

This only happens if you fail to seek treatment early on. With any advantaged stage symptom, it can cause death. The tick bite has spread heavily through the bloodstream and there has been no treatment done to get rid of it. Everything in the body has shut down, including the organs. After a while death will occur. If an autopsy is done, it will be shown that the person had anaplasmosis.

Anaplasmosis attacked the body because there was never any treatment given. The person would still be alive if he or she had gotten treatment when symptoms first started instead of not doing anything.

The person probably thought the symptoms would go away on its own. On the other hand, the person probably couldn’t afford to go to the doctor to get treatment. In the end, death was cheaper for him or her.
