Sweet syndrome is a particularly rare syndrome that many people have never heard of before; in fact, it has only recently been fully described in medical books, which means that a lot of doctors and are still in the process of learning more about sweet syndrome and how it works too. A lot of the information about sweet syndrome that is available elsewhere on the internet is downright wrong – or giving you outdated information about a very new syndrome.

You should know what to look for if you or someone you know might be suffering from sweet syndrome and be unaware of the condition. There is more and more developing information about the condition as more people are coming forward and being properly diagnosed. Here are eight sweet syndrome symptoms that you should look out for in yourself and those you know and mention to your doctor if you spot them happening.

1. Fever

The normal accepted human body temperature is usually around thirty-seven degrees Celsuis – or ninety-eight-point-seven degrees Fahrenheit; a little more or a little less is normal, but once you are several degrees too much then you are instead dealing with the symptom we know as a fever. This can accompany several different health conditions, including an infection that is raging int he body, or any signs of any autoimmune disorder whereby the body attacks its own immune structure when the disorder flares up.

Fever is the body’s first line of defence against any infections that could affect your body, and running a high fever for long periods of time could mean that you have a larger syndrome or infection that’s causing it: Discuss the possibility with your doctor and keep reading to see if you could be at risk for having Sweet’s syndrome. The condition can be managed and treated easily enough.

2. Fatigue

Fatigue means that you are feeling exceptionally tired – moreso than you usually would. Fatigue also usually means that you feel the same amount of tired (or in exceptional cases, more) no matter the amount of sleep that you might be getting. Any type of fatigue or tiredness can quickly start to interfere with your daily life and stop you from functioning. A lack of sleep can even be fatal, and can put pressure on your body – including your heart and brain – that your body can’t handle.

Constant fatigue is one warning sign that might point to being diagnosed with Sweet’s syndrome, especially if you can combine it with the characteristic lesions on the skin that are associated with Sweet’s syndrome. If you spot a combination of three or more of these symptoms together, then it doesn’t necessarily mean Sweet’s, but does mean that you should make an appointment with your doctor to get your health checked out.

3. Headaches

Headaches are another symptom that typically go along with Sweet’s syndrome, and may or may not be aggravated by the presence of light – and in some cases, might go along with the symptom of sore eyes that we will describe later on in this piece. Headaches can be easily managed with painkillers, but remember that you are only easing a symptom and not treating the cause!

If you are experiencing headaches more than once every so often, then you should make an appointment with your doctor to find the deeper root cause behind what’s causing them; even when they don’t point to the fact that you have Sweet’s syndrome, they might still point to a disorder that needs to be looked at from a medical perspective and could be managed easier as a result. Headaches in Sweet’s syndrome can, luckily, be managed along with the rest of the condition along with the help of your doctor.

4. Pain in the Joints

If you are experiencing pain in your joints, then you don’t have to jump to conclusions and automatically assume that you might have Sweet’s syndrome; there are plenty of potential disorders and illnesses that can cause pain in the joints, including a routine infection, arthritis and connective tissue disorders. If you can combine some of the symptoms on this list with a repetitive pain in the joints and lesions on the skin, then you can start taking a closer look at Sweet’s syndrome as the origin of your symptoms.

Take this list along to your doctor when you go to your next doctor’s appointment and see what your doctor can do for you. Pain in your joints can be easily managed with a course of anti-inflammatory medication that take the pressure off when the pain flares up, and many n atural methods such as a turmeric bath will do wonders for improving your health.

5. Lesions of the Skin

Of all of the symptoms that we’ve mentioned on this list so far and of all the symptoms that we still have to mention later on in this piece, lesions on the skin is the most characteristic symptom that you will experience with Sweet’s syndrome. Since Sweet’s syndrome is largely a skin disorder, this is arguably the disorder’s strongest symptom – and the one that will prompt most people to visit the doctor when it shows up.

Skin lesions can easily be managed no matter what the cause – whether you do have Sweet’s syndrome or not. If you have any type of skin lesion that can’t be explained by braising or bruising the skin, then you have cause for concern and should make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible so that they can root out the real cause of what’s been making you sick and start treating what’s wrong with your health.

6. Ulcers of the Mouth

There are plenty of disorders and diseases which can potentially share some of the symptoms that we’ve discussed in this article – but there are a few symptoms on this list that are particularly characteristic of Sweet’s syndrome, and almost certainly point to it if they are combined with the other symptoms,. One of these specific characteristics is ulceration of the mouth that happens at more or less the same time as the lesions of the skin; though this is a sign that the syndrome is now affecting the inside of the body as much as the outside.

This means that you should visit your doctor and find out more about what the potential treatment options could be. In the meantime, you can decrease your risk of developing infection from the related mouth ulcers by simply rinsing out your mouth with salt water: This can do wonders for the overall health of your mouth.

""

7. Sore Eyes

A constant feeling of pain or pressure in the eyes can point to the fact that you might have Sweet’s syndrome. This is because of the effect the syndrome has on the rest of the body – just because it’s a skin condition doesn’t mean that it’s mostly going to affect the skin: Like all disorders and syndromes, it affects the entire scope of your body and can lead to sore eyes – and pain in many other body parts as we’ve already mentioned in some of this article earlier on.

If you are suffering from severe Sweet’s syndrome, then the lesions that appear on the skin might also spread to other areas of the body – including near or in the eyes. Visit your doctor if this should happen and you have not yet received treatment for it, or if you find that the treatment you have been taking doesn’t work effectively enough.

""

8. Longer-Term Effects

There are many more symptoms that could be associated with Sweet’s syndrome that we have not covered within the scope of this article; we can say that we have gone over the most common symptoms that you could expect to see with Sweet’s syndrome, though some of the symptoms (such as fever and pain the joints) can go together with many other disorders and long-term infections.

Visit your doctor if you feel that anything has been up with your health for a long time and has not been getting better: It’s better to catch a potentially deadly infection sooner rather than later, and once you have a name for a disorder or syndrome, it’s much easier to treat. If the first doctor can’t find the cause for your illness, then you are within your rights to seek a second opinion from another medical professional who could point you in the direction – ideally a dermatologist if you suspect Sweet’s syndrome is at fault.
