14 Prevailing Norovirus Symptoms

Search Articles Here

It’s estimated that as much as one in every five cases of gastroenteritis is really caused by being infected with the norovirus; in turn, it’s estimated that gastroenteritis itself caused as much as 1.3 million deaths in the year 2015. It’s a very serious health condition, and you should take it seriously if you experience any of the symptoms that are mentioned in this article: It could be a little bit more than just a casual stomach bug that “might” go away.

There is no official vaccine or treatment for the norovirus, and the best that you can do if you have contracted this infection is to see your doctor for a course of antibiotics and let them help you to treat the rest of it symptomatically.

Seek medical attention if you are experiencing any of these symptoms in combination with each other. Here are the 7 prevailing symptoms of being infected with the norovirus.

1. Vomiting

Vomiting is usually the first sign for most people that they have eaten or ingested something that has made them sick, and vomiting is a very common symptom for a range of disorders and illnesses including general infections, gastrointestinal upsets, food poisoning and other conditions such as the norovirus.

What most people don’t realize is just how dangerous vomiting can be as a condition: If you have been throwing up for an extended period of time, then you are likely dehydrating at a rapid rate – and you will need to replenish these fluids as you go along. If you don’t, then you are putting yourself at risk of more serious symptoms, even of death.

There are a couple of natural ways to control nausea and vomiting, including taking ginger in any form. If these natural methods don’t work, ask your pharmacist if something is available over-the-counter to help with the bouts of nausea – or consider making an appointment with your doctor to bring the condition under control.
