When it comes to treating high-pressure, also known as glaucoma, there are lots of things that your doctor can do, medication can be prescribed and various techniques that can be used. But what if you want to use home remedies to treat your glaucoma?

This disease is quite common and affects around 3 million Americans each year. However, many are not even aware that they have it. The problem is: glaucoma can lead to blindness if it is not treated. That’s why many people are using natural remedies in order to prevent glaucoma from happening in the first place.

This usually happens with the elderly population, so those that are retiring soon or have retired may want to start using these home remedies to prevent glaucoma happening in the first place.

1. Follow a Healthy Diet

You definitely want to follow a healthy diet. This means a diet that is full of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains, organic and grass-fed animal products, cold-water fish in basically the foods that you need to get the nutrients that your body requires.

Some of the things that you want to look out for our dark, leafy greens, orange and yellow and red fruits, citrus which contains bioflavonoids that fight free radicals, consuming fish oil, consuming vegetables to see such as Brewer’s yeast and kelp.

These oils contain high amounts of chromium which can have a beneficial effect on glaucoma as well as other types of ocular hypertension. Most of the time, eating a healthy diet just means minimal amounts of red meat and lots of other types of meat and proteins.
