Even though it is a condition that affects mostly older adults, it is not a sign of aging. When it happens, it is just one of those things. There may not have been anything you could have done to prevent it. If you are having issues with keeping your food down or swallowing and you’re an older adult, you should tell your doctor about it.
The doctor will tell you what you can do to allow you to keep food down, such as eating softer foods. Babies even get dysphagia, so it doesn’t mean that they’re aging.
Dysphagia can happen to anyone at any age. When it does happen, you’ll need to change the foods that you eat, so that you can enjoy eating again. It is no fun having to vomit every time you eat no matter what age you are.
