2. Numbness
You might notice that the area around the schwannoma is numb. In fact, numbness is one of the first things that patients with schwannomas notice. When the schwannoma gets to sizes great enough to press the nerves around it, they start to go numb. This isn’t a good sign as there are some cases where numbness leads to nerve damage eventually due to the constant pressure placed on them by the schwannoma.
If you want to avoid the nerve damage then you should seek treatment as soon as you notice the numbness surrounding the schwannoma. Think of this symptom as an early warning sign that the sign of your schwannoma is increasing to a point where it could pose a serious threat to the health of surrounding nerves. Be sure to inform your doctor of when the numbness started and where it’s originating from.
