3. Alcoholism
Another symptom that could develop as a direct result of fear of long words is alcoholism. Much like with drug abuse, this is a learned reliance that develops when patients who suffer from the condition use alcohol to alleviate the severity of their constant fear. Those who suffer from a fear of long words have said that consuming alcohol calms them down and reduces their fear for long words making it easier to not only go about their but even read some books.
That being said, while there have been some anecdotal reports on alcohol relieving phobias like a fear of long words, it’s not advisable to do so as this can lead to alcoholism. Various case studies have shown that treating the phobia itself can reduce the reliance on alcohol since the fear of long words becomes less severe.
