2. Breast cancer
Most cases of breast cancer are adenocarcinomas. This is due to the fact that the breastmilk-producing glands in your breast are especially prone to adenocarcinomas โ seeing as it targets glands. This poses a risk not only to you but to any nursing infants as well. While there has been a relatively limited study in this area, some researchers have suggested that cancer might spread to your babies through the breastmilk if adenocarcinoma is present in your glands during the time of feeding. Thus, if you suspect that you have adenocarcinoma, you should get yourself checked up to confirm the diagnosis before you cause more harm to yourself and your children.
Some studies have also shown that excessive or insufficient production of breastmilk could result from adenocarcinoma. This is due to the fact that the glands are unable to regulate the level of breastmilk that they produce if they are weakened by the adenocarcinoma.
