The eyes take far more of a beating during one lifetime than you might have imagined, and a lot of it has to do with the amount of sunlight and UV rays that your eyes get exposed to during your life. A lifetime spent in harsh conditions exposed to the sun can make you blind; the same way, exposing yourself to too much of the opposite for long periods of time without the right type of eye-wear can cause an eye condition that’s called snow-blindness in some conditions and climates.
You don’t have to look directly into the sun to have it affect your vision. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, always make sure that your eyes are well-protected.
