2. Fever
Running a fever when suffering from herpangina is almost guaranteed. The fever can come and go as it pleases, but often signals the start of an infection and will be the highest right before the blisters break out. Ironically, when the blisters are at their peak, the sufferer may actually feel most like themselves, with the worst of the illness coming in the build-up to the breakout.
The bad thing about this is, that even for children, there is a level of embarrassment and self-consciousness that comes with a mouth full of blisters, and so going about your business in a normal fashion becomes just as difficult psychologically, as it was physically before the blisters arrived. During the fever stage, temperatures can rise and fall erratically and episodes may last between a whole day and a couple of days. Expect to experience the sweats, the shivers, plenty of hot flushes and a few cold flashes.
