2. High Fever
Running a fever is a symptom of many different types of illnesses. A fever is the body’s first line of defense against infection. If you have been infected with the legionnaire’s bacteria you may develop a fever. The fever is a result of an increase in the body’s temperature as a way to help kill off the infection or bacteria. Typically, this symptom is not very serious unless it reaches above 102 or higher.
When a person is infected with the bacteria that causes legionnaires disease, the incubation period before symptoms appear is anywhere from two days to ten days. In some cases, it may take up to two weeks.
In order to treat the fever you will want to make sure that you are drinking plenty of water and monitoring your temperature. If your fever does not go away or becomes really high, make sure that you go to your doctor right away.
