Search Articles Here

A clavicle fracture is a rare condition where fewer than 200,000 cases are reported in the US each year. A clavicle fracture is a break in the bone where it connects the shoulder and breastbone. A clavicle fracture can occur in many ways, including sports injuries and falls. Infants can even suffer from a clavicle fracture during the process of birth.

The condition heals within days to weeks as long as treatment is sought. If you wait too long to receive treatment, going to the emergency room is the only way for it to heal. When you have a clavicle fracture you may not know that you have one, especially if you don’t know what the symptoms are. In order to find out if you have a clavicle fracture, imagining tests are required.

There are eight known symptoms of a clavicle fracture that you need to be aware of just in case it happens to you.

1. Pain when moving shoulder is a common symptom.

There is a break in the bone that is causing the inability to move your shoulder. Icing, pain relievers, and physical therapy are three of the best treatments. The physical therapist will tell you how often to ice the area and take pain relievers. You may be able to just take over-the-counter pain relievers.  When you have pain in your shoulder, you don’t want to lie on the side where the pain is. You’ll just have more pain if you do.

It will hurt when you go to physical therapy because he or she is moving your arm and shoulder in a way that is causing you pain. This will only help you. You may be a bit sore after each session, but that just means it’s working. It’s also a good idea to not do any strenuous activity until your shoulder heals.
