Vitamin D should be a part of your daily diet to help heal your fracture. It not only helps your blood take in and use the calcium that you consume daily but it also helps build up the minerals in your bones.
One thing about vitamin D is that you can easily get a lot of it by being outside during nice weather. This is because vitamin D comes from the sunshine too. Spending even 15 minutes outside every day is good enough for fair-skinned people, a little longer for darker-skinned people or those who tan easier and don’t burn easily.
This vitamin is one that is found naturally in foods including egg yolks and fatty fish. However, manufacturers have added it to other foods including milk and orange juice. Younger to middle-aged adults should be getting at least 600 IU of Vitamin D every day, while older adults should get a little more at 800 IU every day.
