2. Red Throat
One way you might be able to tell the difference between strep throat and other causes of sore throat, is if the throat appears red upon inspection. The throat might look red and it might also have some mild patches. This might also be visible on the tonsils, which can become inflamed and angry themselves.
If you are unable to assess this yourself, ask a friend to check the back of your throat and use a teaspoon to keep your tongue flat and out of the way.
