3. Cold Therapy
If the joints become swollen, one of the best ways to help reduce the swelling is to apply cold therapy. A cold gel pack, an ice pack, or even a bag of frozen vegetables applied to the joints that are swollen can help alleviate the swelling.
After you perform any type of exercise it is possible that the joints and muscles may become swollen or inflamed. Applying ice to these inflamed areas can help to reduce the symptoms associated with inflammation. You should only apply ice for twenty minutes at a time. You should not apply a cold pack directly to the skin.
Instead, wrap the ice pack in a towel or some other type of cloth to help protect your skin. You should not use cold therapy for joint inflammation without discussing it with your doctor first. If you have circulation issues, your doctor may provide you with another type of therapy.
