Search Articles Here

LBD or Lewy Body Dementia is a disorder of the brain that is extremely complex. It can be hard to diagnose and even after a person has been diagnosed with the disorder it can be difficult to manage and treat. This form of dementia is not as well known as other types such as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. However, just because it is not well known does not mean that it is rare.

In fact, there are more than a million Americans who are affected by LBD and its difficult effects. There is currently no cure for Lewy Body Dementia, but some of the symptoms of it can respond to treatment over time. In fact, some simple changes to your lifestyle can go a long way when it comes to dealing with this particular disorder. Here are 10 foods that may help treat Lewy Body Dementia.

1. Dark Leafy Greens

When you are diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia it is going to be important to follow a healthy diet. One thing that you should make sure that you are eating plenty of is dark leafy greens. Collard greens, kale, and spinach are all good examples of these foods. Consuming dark leafy greens can help to protect your brain from damage that is caused by free radicals. Foods such as these green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamin K, beta carotene, and lutein. All of these are important when it comes to keeping your brain healthy.

When you are suffering from Lewy Body Dementia it is important to help your brain in anyway that you can. Since the disease causes a person to suffer from memory loss and also affects other areas of the brain, providing your brain with the proper nutrients becomes even more important. Try adding some kale to a smoothie in the morning.
