For instance, some people who don’t get a flu vaccination every year still won’t get the flu, whereas others have to get the flu vaccination or they’ll get the flu. Some people are just immune to getting illnesses even if they’re not exposed to anything.
That’s why a patellar tendon tear doesn’t have to come from someone who is physically active. It can occur when a person becomes ill. Even though, there are only a few cases of a systemic disease causing a patellar tendon tear, it is still something to look out for.
With a systemic disease it affects the entire body, so there’s a higher risk that it could affect the tendons. For example, if a person’s body can’t fight off diseases, the tendon could rupture and the person may not even notice it right away since he or she is already sick.
